Founding of Marathon Foodservice
From One Truck to Many
Marathon Foodservice was founded in 2012 by a group of restaurant industry veterans who saw a need for a more reliable, responsive food distributor on Long Island. Operating from a single refrigerated truck, the company began by serving just a handful of local diners and pizzerias.
Expanded to Full-Service Distribution
Food + Supplies = Total Kitchen Support
By 2015, Marathon expanded its offerings beyond fresh and frozen food to include paper goods, janitorial supplies, and smallwares—becoming a one-stop-shop for commercial kitchens. The new full-service model set Marathon apart from regional competitors.
Opened 20,000 sq. ft. Warehouse
Room to Grow
To meet rising demand, Marathon opened a state-of-the-art, 20,000 sq. ft. distribution center in central Long Island. With advanced cold storage and streamlined loading docks, the facility dramatically improved order turnaround and delivery capacity.
Launched Online Ordering Portal
Tech Meets Tradition
Marathon adapted to changing times by launching a user-friendly online ordering system, allowing chefs and restaurant managers to place and track orders 24/7. The digital shift boosted efficiency and helped customers better manage their inventory.
